Bloom asks for so little, but Viggo is able to give him something more - a brief, delicate, tenderness in defiance of the circumstances. Of course it can't last, but that doesn't lessen its value.
Feeling happy was just asking for trouble, for some CO or inmate to come along and smash things apart, but he couldn't help himself, not right at that moment.
So very sad, but beautiful. Powerfully told.
